When to book
Once a year, ideally in late summer or early autumn before the heating goes under full load. Any developing fault is then found while the weather is still mild and there is time to put it right.
If you cannot remember when the boiler was last serviced, or you have just moved into a house in Dunmow and have no records, it is worth booking one now rather than waiting for the anniversary.
Signs your boiler needs attention sooner
A pressure gauge that keeps dropping, radiators that are cold at the top, hot water that runs lukewarm, new noises from the boiler, or a pilot or flame that looks different from usual are all reasons not to wait for the annual service.
These are often small faults that are quick to put right when caught early. Left alone, they can strain the pump, heat exchanger or other expensive components.
Servicing a newer boiler
If your boiler is still within its manufacturer warranty, the annual service is what keeps that cover in place. Warranties on new boilers typically run from 5 to 12 years depending on the boiler.
If we installed it, our own 10-year guarantee on labour and pipework sits alongside the manufacturer warranty.
When repair stops making sense
Sometimes a service shows that a boiler is near the end of its working life: parts are hard to source, faults keep returning, or an expensive repair is likely. When that happens, we will tell you honestly and leave the decision with you.
If you do decide to replace it, we fit all boiler brands on natural gas with a fixed price quote, and can survey for it at the same visit.
